This journey isn’t just scenic; it’s steeped in history, whispering tales of the past around every bend.

Conquer two gentle climbs with ease, suitable for most fitness levels. Remember to pack comfortable outdoor clothing and waterproof shoes to ensure your adventure is as enjoyable as the scenery.

This walk offers breathtaking views of Derrynane and Kenmare Bay. Beginning at the parking area beside the crossroad in Caherdaniel, we will follow the Kerry Way in the direction of Sneem. The route takes us through grassy hills towards Coad Mountain, offering stunning views of the inlets below.

TERRAIN
Walkers Can Expect To Follow Trails That May Be Soft Or Rocky Underfoot With Sections Of Sleepers. Some Short Periods Of Ascents.
REQUIREMENTS
Well-Soled Waterproof Walking Boots, Comfortable Outdoor Clothes With Extra Warm Layers In A Backpack With Sufficient Water, Food And/or Snacks.

Step Back in Time on the Kerry Way: History, Nature, and Breathtaking Views!

Journey through history and nature on this captivating walk along the Kerry Way. Our path winds past the ancient Kilcrohane Church and cemetery, shrouded in whispers of the past. Stand in awe of spectacular views of Castlecove and beyond, a panorama fit for a postcard.

We might also catch sight of the mystical natural amphitheater of Staigue Fort, a silent sentinel standing proud for over 1,500 years. This is a detour for another day, however, as we ascend a final hill, breathing in the fresh air, before descending to the lush embrace of Beale Forest, marking the end of our walk.

Be prepared for adventure! The trail can be boggy at times, so waterproof boots or shoes are essential. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

After our invigorating walk, we’ll drive back to Sneem. Join us for a fantastic day out filled with history, nature, and unforgettable scenery!

What To Wear for Sneem Walks?

  • Quick-drying loose or stretchy pants.  Avoid wearing jeans and cotton tee-shirts, which can get uncomfortable when warm and very cold when wet.
  • Waterproof walking boots with good grips and good laces.
  • Good Walking Socks
  • 100% waterproof shell type jacket.

What to Pack for this Walk?

  • A walking pole or better still two poles.
  • Spare warm fleece type top (a couple of thin layers).
  • Small backpack for food, spare clothes and other supplies.
  • Hat & Gloves.
  • Gaiters – keep your ankles / calves dry in wet long grass.
  • Waterproof over-trousers.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Smartphone for contact and for fantastic photos.
  • Water bottle – preferably a reusable one.

  • No refund: Within 2 days of the walk.
