Superb Walking Trip

Had a great weekend here with Álaind Walking Sneem. The accommodation was excellent and the personal, warm and homely welcome and attention was second to none.

The walks were so enjoyable - Part of The Kerry Way & the Derrynane Mass Path Loop Walk was the first walk. A nice lead in to the next walk in The Dunkerron Mountains taking in Eagles Lake, Coomanassig Waterfall and Coomnacronia. Knocknagantee could be seen clearly, Loch Cluain Eachlainn and Kenmare River in the distance. The visibility on both days was excellent as the weather was magical allowing for amazing views well into the distance.

A sea swim was even taken in on the first day which was a lovely finish to the walking on the first day. Thanks Fergal.

Superb Walking Trip (Continued)

On the second day we ended the walk both myself and another fellow walker with a gorgeous hot soak in a Seaweed Bath overlooking the South Kerry Mountains and Sneem Estuary.

Fergal is an exceptional guide and his knowledge of the area and walks was superb. He made every walk very enjoyable taking time out to enjoy all the spectacular views and giving time for those camera shot memories. In such a small area there was lots to do but not enough time to do it all which is a great complaint.

Patrica & Chris a great team looking after the Bed and Breakfast and making sure I was well set up for day. Thanks everyone for making my trip ever so enjoyable.

Trekking in the heart of Wild Kerry

Have just returned from a fabulous 3-day mini break with Álaind . Fergal is both a professional and friendly guide. The lodge - just outside Sneem village - is a great base for walks .Trish and Chris will make you very welcome here. This area is a hidden gem on the Ring of Kerry.

We did the Derrynane Loop and Lower Dunkerrons - super hikes with coastal and mountain views of Kerry Geo Park .

Fergal allowed plenty of time for photos as it was hard not to stop and gaze in wonder! Transport is well organised and he even managed to fit in a swim at the end of one of the walks.

Fergal has a great knowledge of the locality. We were able to enjoy a wonderful range of walks; from hills, to mountains and beautiful panoramic sea views across Kenmare Bay.

Even the rain didn’t dampen our delight in discovering what my family has named “The Fairy Forest”.

Our base was perfectly situated for accessing the many route choices and was situated just outside the picturesque village of Sneem.

Escape to a little bit of paradise. Lovely comfortable cosy room and a lovely powerful power shower to soothe the body after two days walking in the beautiful Kerry Mountains. Fergal, the host was so informative and knowledgeable about the area including the history, the wild life, the birds and the flora and fauna. He could not do enough for us . After our hikes each day we relaxed in a lovely sitting room in front of a blazing wood stove with a lovely cup of tea! I cant wait to go again.

Fergal’s walks are delightful, you experience places and scenery you’d never find alone. Relaxed and very Covid compliant, Fergal delivers a truly personal service for walkers of all levels. Great value too!

Fergal was an absolutely excellent host & guide. The accommodation was comfortable, spacious and spotless. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the walks were geared to suit our abilities. We were able to totally relax and enjoy the stunning scenery of the mountains and coastline of Sneem & Derrynane. We totally recommend stopping for a while at Álaind, we will certainly be back 🙂
