Saint Albans Rambler Walking Club Away Trip

hiking holiday sneem

What have the Italian Dolomites, Zillertal in the Austrian Alps and Sneem County Kerry got in common?

The answer is that all three are the venues for Saint Albans Rambler walking club away trips.

St Albans Rambler walking club, with its home a little north of London, is in existence for 30 years and has over 110 members.

Being an active and progressive club, they plan annual expedition walking trips to a new location. Last year they went to the to the Dolomites, next year to the Alps and in April 2023 the Club spent five days exploring Sneem, County Kerry.

Such was the appetite for the Sneem trip organized by Fergal Harrington, Mountain Leader, and owner of Álaind Walking Holidays, that all 24 places were quickly fully booked.

Throughout the week Fergal and fellow Mountain Leader Dariusz Chruszcz lead the St. Albans group on coastal Kerry Way sections, across the Dunkerron Mountain ridges, to the hidden coom lakes of Eagles Lake and Coomnacronia and summitting the spectacular peaks of Beann 752m and Mullaghanattin 773m.

The weather was very kind, which made for great visibility and maximum views.

Recalling the St. Albans Rambler trip, Fergal Harrington said ‘I’m delighted that we were successful in attracting Saint Albans Rambler Club to Sneem.  They experienced wild and wonderful walking in the local Dunkerron Mountains with all their Bed and Breakfast accommodation, evening meals, guided walks and transport being provided in Sneem by local businesses. We’re looking forward to welcoming other groups to the village as we continue to raise awareness of Sneem as a fantastic hillwalking destination.
