Today our walk starts on the magnificent Kerry Way<\/a>. Even though our maximum height will be 150m, we’re still afforded fantastic views of the sea. Looking Back to the hills and beach of Derrynane<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nIn fact, although you might not be aware of it, you’re never too far from the nearest village while walking the Kerry Way. So here it’s not long before we catch sight of the Atlantic ocean and the beach ahead, which marks our impending arrrival in the village of Caherdaniel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Caherdaniel, we’ll make our way to the stunning Blue Flag Derrynane Beach. We’ll be completing a loop walk of this area, taking in mature woodland, a stunning sandy beach, dunes and the seashore nature trail. You may not have heard of the Beara Peninsula as it’s not as famous as The Ring of Kerry. In fact many think of it as the the quiet relation of the Ring of Kerry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reason it is less of a destination is not for the lack of fantastic walking or stunning scenery. It’s mainly due to its narrow, less developed road system which does not lend itself kindly to traffic and especially not to large tours coaches. The net effect is that its roads remain a great place for exploring by foot or bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hopefully you’ll be still buzzing from the previous Day’s walking experience but today’s there’s more to come. Depending on the weather we’ll take a boat trip across Kenmare Bay to the Beara Peninsula on the other side. Even without a fantastic day of walking ahead, this boat trip is enough to thrill you from top to bottom.
