From here we&#8217;ll drive to the starting point for the Mullaghanattin Climb. All scheduled walks will proceed once two or more people have booked.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-mullaghanattin-hill-of-the-gorse-mountain-trip-highlights-include\">Mullaghanattin (Hill of the Gorse) Mountain Trip Highlights include:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Summiting the 775m high Mullaghanattin Mountain, one of the best mountains to climb in Ireland.<\/li><li>Visiting the verticle walls of Ballaghbeama Gap, where an ice age glacier breached the mountain ridge.<\/li><li>Taking regular breaks to savour the fabulous views across the Ring of Kerry peninsula and beyond.<\/li><li>Marveling at nearby Carrauntoohil in the Magillicuddy&#8217;s Reeks and the &#8216;Pocket&#8217; valley some 600m below.<\/li><li>Exploring this geological wonderland and the incredible heights of the Dunkerron Mountains.<\/li><li>Traversing the open moorland long ago smoothed by the deposits of ice age glaciers.<\/li><li>Possible encounters with sheep, hares, mountain goats, huge ravens and perhaps the white-tailed sea eagles.<\/li><li>Spectacular views of three peninsulas and even more mountain ranges.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/alaindwalkingireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/mullaghanattin_approach.jpg\" alt=\"Approaching Mullaghanattin Summit\" class=\"wp-image-7938\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alaindwalkingireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/mullaghanattin_approach.jpg 800w, https:\/\/alaindwalkingireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/mullaghanattin_approach-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/alaindwalkingireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/mullaghanattin_approach-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption>One final push to reach Mullaghanattin Summit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a 7km strenuous 4 hour round trip hike to the summit of Mullaghanattin near Ballaghbeama Gap and Sneem on the Ring of Kerry. <\/p>\n<p>Mullaghanattin in the Dunkerron Mountains, at 773m high, offers a tough but rewarding challenge to the regular hillwalker with good fitness.
