This walk includes two short, moderate climbs and participants should have suitable outdoor clothing and waterproof footwear.

Experience the Kerry Way: Walking from Caherdaniel to Beale

Join Fergal and the Sneem Walking Club for a scenic walk along the Kerry Way as part of the Sneem St. Patrick’s Festival. You don’t have to be a member of the club to participate, visitors are welcome!

We will meet at 10 AM on Saturday 18th March outside Dan Murphy’s Bar in Sneem Village and organise car-pooling to drive to the starting point of the walk at Caherdaniel. The walk will cover 11 km and we will walk at a comfortable pace, keeping the group together. Once we reach Beale Woods, we will drive back to Sneem.

Wonderful Scenery

This walk offers breathtaking views of Derrynane and Kenmare Bay. Beginning at the parking area beside the crossroad in Caherdaniel, we will follow the Kerry Way in the direction of Sneem. The route takes us through grassy hills towards Coad Mountain, offering stunning views of the inlets below.

Rich in History

We will also pass by historic landmarks, such as the Kilcrohane Church and cemetery, with spectacular views of Castlecove and beyond. Along the way, we’ll also explore the natural amphitheater setting of Staigue Fort, which is estimated to be around 1,500 years old.

We’ll ascend one final hill having reached Bohocogram, where the trail can be boggy, making a good pair of waterproof boots or shoes a must. From here, we’ll descend to the gap where Beale Forest sits, marking the official end of our walk.

Don’t miss this wonderful and varied walk along the Kerry Way. Be sure to bring appropriate gear for the weather conditions. After the walk, we’ll drive back to Sneem, collecting any cars left in Caherdaniel. Join us for a fantastic day out in the stunning scenery of Kerry.
